Athletic Training Education Program

The Texas Christian University Athletic Training Education Program is accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.

Admission to the Athletic Training Program is competitive and requires the student to complete an application separate from the TCU undergraduate admission application.  Admission to the program is limited (approximately 10 – 12 students per year).  Students are admitted on a rolling basis once they have been accepted to TCU.  Applicants are encouraged to submit their application to the Athletic Training Program at the same time they submit their application to the TCU admissions office.

To be considered for admission into the ATEP students must submit:

  • TCU letter of acceptance
  • Completed ATEP application
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Copy of all academic transcripts (high school and college, if applicable)
  • Copy of current First Aid and CPR/AED certification cards
  • An interview may be required for some candidates prior to admission. Interviews will be scheduled by the ATEP if necessary.

Transfer students will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and should contact the Program Director prior to application.

Upon admission, students are required to have a physical exam by the TCU ATEP Medical Director; show documentation of immunization for hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria; varicella (or documentation of history of the chicken pox); show proof of a current TB skin test; and attest that they meet the technical standards established by the program.
