TCU Leadership in Athletic Training Awards

TCU Athletic Department

The TCU Athletic Training Program through the Athletic Department awards financial aid to athletic training students based on experience, academic performance, clinical skills and proficiencies, evaluations, dependability, and reliability. Athletic training students are eligible for financial aid from the Athletic Department after having completed one year of service within the TCU Athletic Training Program. Athletic training students requiring a fifth year may be considered for financial aid upon request and justification to the Athletic Training Staff.

Eligibility of transfer students for Athletic Department financial aid will be determined by the Athletic Training Staff on a case-by-case basis.

Financial aid is coordinated through the Department of Financial Aid and the Director of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine and is subject to coordination with other University-based grants and aid.

The Quaker Oats Company funds two scholarships for athletic training students based on cumulative and semester grade point average. Each semester:

• $2500 is awarded to the athletic training student with the highest cumulative GPA
• $1500 is awarded to the athletic training student with the highest semester GPA, but not the same person

The Gatorade Scholarships not typically awarded to the same athletic training student for more than two consecutive semesters. Recipients must be at least a sophomore and be in good standing with the Athletic Training Program.

NATA Research and Education Foundation

The NATA Research and Education Foundation offers multiple awards annually to undergraduate and graduate athletic training students. Students must:

• Be at least a junior in college
• Have a minimum 3.2 GPA based on a 4.0 scale
• Be sponsored by a certified athletic trainer
• Be a member of the NATA
• intend to make athletic training their primary means of livelihood

Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association

The Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association awards annual scholarships to athletic training students. Students must:

• have sophomore, junior or senior standing for the upcoming year and haveworked as an athletic training student on the collegiate level for a period of one year prior to application.
• be enrolled in an academic degree track leading towards a career in athletic training.
• have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 (4.0) scale.
• not be on full athletic or academic scholarship.
• have been a member of the NATA and/or SWATA on or before January 1 prior to the year for which the application is applied.
• not be a member of an intercollegiate sports team.
